enteliBRIDGE Gateway

The enteliBRIDGE Gateway is a network integration platform that allows you to incorporate non-BACnet building control protocols with your BACnet® building automation system. enteliBRIDGE creates virtual BACnet controllers representing third-party devices in the network to provide a seamless and intuitive architecture for data sharing and graphics.

Modbus Integration with Delta Controllers
As of 3.30 R2, many Delta controllers -the DSC, DSM-RTR, DSM-T0, DAC, DVC, DLC- support Modbus communications capability. This page provides a summary and directory for all you need to know when integrating Modbus using Delta controllers.

What we can talk to
Delta’s Modbus implementation using Delta controllers is limited to talking to Modbus devices with all of the following criteria:

  • Modbus RTU
  • Slave device
  • RS-485 or RS-232 communication
  • Baud rate of 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, or 38400

How to add Modbus to a controller
When configuring a controller to talk Modbus, there are two approaches:

  • Order the controller from Delta pre-loaded with the necessary firmware.
  • Field flash the necessary firmware into a regular controller using a flash key.

This table summarizes the options and limits:

Note that each Modbus slave costs 10 credits on the key.See the Flash Loader page for information on how to flash load a controller.Once a controller is configured to have Modbus capability, there are two ways to verify this and the number of slaves that can be communicated to.

  1. The Model Name in the Device object should report _____-MOD#. The # is the maximum number of slaves.
  2. There should be a GW (Gateway) object in the controller. The GW object will report the maximum number of slaves supported.

Wiring Details
The GW object determines which network port on the controller is used to communicate Modbus. The options are NET1, NET2 or PTP (RS-232). However DAC, DVC and DLC controllers support the NET2 option only as they don’t have an RS-232 port and NET1 is required for BACnet MS/TP.The network port defaults to the following serial parameters:

  • 8 databits
  • No parity
  • 1 stop bit
